On 17th June 2024 we’ll be starting our next Live Online: Practical Use of FIDIC Construction Contracts. These interactive sessions, led by Andy Hewitt will help you better manage your construction projects under the FIDIC suite of contracts.

Learn how to use the 1999 FIDIC Conditions of Contract for Construction (the ‘Red Book’) and the FIDIC Conditions of Contract for Plant and Design-Build (the ‘Yellow Book’). The course will give you confidence in working with these contracts, whether representing employers, consultants or contractors.

Case studies, based on real project scenarios will help you understand the correct and practical application of the FIDIC clauses. Don't miss this opportunity to get live virtual face-to-face training on the FIDIC contract forms.

Improve your knowledge of construction contracts

Sign up today and prepare to learn everything needed to work effectively under FIDIC construction contracts. This live course includes detailed examination of:

  • Module 1 – Introduction to FIDIC and the Red and Yellow Books: This short module contains background to the FIDIC contracts, the general provisions of the contract, and the roles of Engineer and Employer.

  • Module 2 – The Contractor: looking in detail at the obligations of the contractor, their role and duties under the contract. Understand in detail clause four of the FIDIC contract forms.

  • Module 3 – Subcontractors, Design, Resources and Materials: understand what the FIDIC contract form says about all these areas and how they affect the project. Ensure you obtain and remove resources on projects in a way that does not contravene the contract, and understand your obligations in relation to quality and defects.

  • Module 4 – Timing, Testing and Handover: Learn all about time in this module, including commencement, delays and suspension, tests on completion and Employer’s taking over.

  • Module 5 – Defects liability, Measurement and Testing: get the full detail of what’s required and how the outcome of ‘Tests After Completion’ can be challenged or managed. How can you ensure you give the right notices in the correct form at the right time?

  • Module 6 – Payment and Termination: What is needed to obtain payment? How are applications to be made, and how can the contract be terminated correctly by the Employer? Ensure you understand the risks and opportunities afforded by the contract in these two challenging areas.

  • Module 7 – Suspension / Termination, Risk, Insurance and Claims: What are the risks for the Contractor in suspension or termination of the contract? What happens if things go wrong and how should claims be handled and resolved?

The course will be delivered over a seven-week period, with one module delivered every week at 2pm Gulf Standard Time (GST), on the following dates:

  • Module 1: 17th June
  • Module 2: 24th June
